In April-May, 2011 Ekaterina B. Demintseva conducted fieldwork in France among immigrants from Sub-Saharan Africa. The research was carried out in Paris and its suburbs upon the invitation of Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme.

Between April 27 - May 6, 2011 Dmitri M. Bondarenko delivered guest lectures on the historical and anthropological context of globalization with special reference to Africa.

From February 16 till March 10 Oxana V. Ivanchenko was carrying out a research on national identity among urban citizens and it’s formation in Tanzania (in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Zanzibar city).

Vladimir G. Shubin presented the paper on “Ogaden War: a View from Moscow” at the international conference “Sub-Saharan Africa in the 1970s: Crisis, Conflicts and Transformations”.
